A cookout on the Fourth of July tends to use whatever table is in the yard, and most of those tables have seen a few summers. These two covers go over them printed as the flag itself, stripes across the body and the star field along one edge. The plastic wipes down between the burgers and the watermelon.
The print is the flag laid flat: red and white bands running the length of the cover, with the blue star field set along one side rather than in a corner. Seen from standing height it reads as a flag over the whole table, which is most of the decorating for a yard party done in one step.
Two covers come in the pack, which is the usual shape of a holiday cookout: one rectangular table for the food and a second for drinks and paper plates. Both carry the same print, so the two ends of the yard match each other. If only one table goes out, the spare stays folded for the following summer.
Both covers are cut rectangular, the shape of a folding trestle or a picnic table with the benches pushed aside. Plastic has an advantage outside that cloth does not: a gust lifts it but nothing soaks in, and a spilled drink sits on the surface instead of going through to the wood underneath.
Plastic is the point at the end of the evening. Ketchup, melted ice and corn silk come off with a cloth, or the whole cover gets folded up and carried out with the rest of the party. Nothing has to go in a machine while relatives are still sitting on the porch.
