Red, White and Blue
The print takes its cue from the flag, in the colors that show up in every other decoration in the yard. Set out on two tables it makes a borrowed picnic bench and a folding table look like part of the same party. Balloons, plates and napkins in the same palette read as deliberate rather than accidental once the tables agree with them.
Eight Foot Picnic Tables
Each cover measures 54 by 108 inches, the standard size for an eight foot rectangular table with a short drop at each side. Two of them handle the food and the seating, or one table indoors and one out. The drop is enough to cover the edge without pooling on the ground where somebody would stand on it during the afternoon.
Soft PEVA Sheeting
PEVA has a cloth-like hand compared with stiff party plastic, so it does not crackle every time a plate slides across it. It shields the table from barbecue sauce, melting ice and the condensation off drink cans, none of which reach the wood. Cleanup means rolling the cover in on itself and putting it out, rather than carrying a wet cloth indoors.
Through the Patriotic Calendar
The same design works well past July. Memorial Day in May, Labor Day in September and Veterans Day in November all take these colors, and so does a homecoming party for somebody back from deployment. A pack of two covers a season rather than a single afternoon, and the spare panel can go up on a wall or a door as a backdrop instead of going down on a table.
