A doorway is the easiest place to put a photo backdrop, because guests walk through it anyway. Each curtain in this pair measures 3.2 feet wide by 6.56 feet long, so two of them side by side cover a standard door frame or a stretch of wall behind the drinks table. The fringe moves whenever someone passes.

No Tacks Or String

The top edge carries a strip of adhesive tape under a peel-off backing, which is the whole hanging system. No tacks, no string, no ladder past what the door frame needs. On a painted wall it is worth pressing along the full width so the weight of the fringe does not pull one corner loose partway through the evening. Removal takes a few seconds.

PET Film Fringe

The strands are cut from 23 micron PET film at 0.4 mm thickness, heavy enough that they hang straight instead of curling into a tangle. Foil catches whatever light is around, so a curtain on a porch reads well at dusk and under a string of bulbs later. The strips separate again if a few get twisted while the curtain is being carried out to the yard.

Layered for Depth

Two panels do not have to hang flat against one another. Overlapping them by a few inches, or staggering one slightly in front of the other, gives a photo backdrop some depth instead of a single sheet of color. For a wider wall, the pair can be spread apart with a banner or a wreath filling the gap between them. Both panels reuse well, so the arrangement can change from one summer to the next.

Beyond the Fourth

Red, white and blue works across more than one weekend. The same pair goes up for Memorial Day in May, comes down, and goes back up for a backyard party in July or a community cookout later in the summer. Between uses, the fringe folds along its own creases and stores flat in a drawer without the strands taking a permanent bend.
