Watercolor Pumpkins in Blue
The illustration style does the work here. Soft edges and blended color make the pumpkins look brushed on, and holding them to blue, white and gray gives the strip a quieter tone than a photographic autumn print would. Delicate leaves and small botanical details run between them, so the pattern still holds interest close up at a table where people linger.
Polyester, Cleaned and Reused
The fabric is high-quality polyester, soft to the touch and durable enough for a runner that comes out every autumn rather than once. It is easy to clean, so a dropped spoonful of gravy is not the end of the matter, and the pumpkin and leaf artwork keeps its color through repeated use. Folded away in December it returns the next year.
Guards the Table Top
Under the dishes the runner is also a layer of protection. The sturdy weave takes the scratch of plates and serving spoons, along with the stains and marks a long autumn meal leaves behind, and keeps them off the surface beneath. On a bare wood table that is the difference between a finish that lasts and one that needs attention.
Island, Buffet, Entry Table
A dining table is only the first candidate. The same strip runs along a kitchen island, across a coffee table, over a buffet behind the serving dishes, or on an entryway console under a bowl of gourds. It holds its own in a modern room as readily as a rustic one, which decides how many weeks it can stay out.
