A school year has two loud days at either end of it, and this set covers both. One poster is built around graduation, the other around the return in the fall, and each is large enough to lie across a table and hold a group of children with a box of crayons. Teachers planning both ends of the calendar get them together.

Both Ends Of School

Spring and fall need the same thing for different reasons. In June a room full of families is waiting for the ceremony to start; in August a room full of strangers is waiting to be told what to do. A large sheet on the table answers both, and having the pair on hand means the second one is already in the closet when September arrives.

Table Sized Activity

The posters are meant to be spread out, not passed around. Laid over a table, one gives every child at that table a section to work on, so a class can be occupied without splitting into stations or handing out separate worksheets. Adults get a surface they can put cups on afterward, and the children stay in one place while the room is photographed.

Room Decoration Afterward

The colored sheet does a second job once the crayons go away. Taped to the wall it becomes the display for the graduation breakfast or the welcome sign for the first week, filled in by the class rather than printed by the teacher. Families stopping in the hallway look for the section their own child worked on, which no store-bought banner ever gets.

Stored Between Seasons

Two posters take up almost no room. Rolled together they stand in the corner of a supply closet, and nothing about them expires between June and August the way food or balloons would. A teacher who uses one at the end of a year still has the other waiting, and a family homeschooling can pull them out on the days that mark the change.
