Two layers rather than one. The covers are royal blue plastic, scattered with gold confetti dots that thicken toward one edge, and a plain gold runner comes with them for the middle of the table. Laid together, the blue reads as the school color and the gold strip gives the centerpiece and the cake something to stand on.

Confetti Heavy At One Edge

The gold dots are not spread evenly. They gather toward one edge and thin out across the rest of the cover, so the cloth has a front: turn the dense side to where guests stand and the blue stays open where plates go. On a long table two covers laid end to end can face their confetti the same way.

Gold Runner Down The Middle

The runner is plain, which is what makes it useful next to a patterned cover. Laid along the center it holds the cake, a row of candles or the grad's photographs, and the gold separates them from the blue underneath. Pulled off the table it also works along a buffet or on a side table holding drinks.

Blue For School Colors

Blue and gold belongs to a lot of schools, which is the reason to pick it over a generic print. Gowns, tassels and a banner in the same two colors fall into line with the table instead of fighting it. Nothing on the cover names a year or a grade, so it carries a younger sibling's turn as easily.

Wiped Down Mid Party

Plastic handles the part of a party nobody plans for. Punch goes over, frosting slides off a plate, a candle drips, and all of it stays on the surface to be wiped away with a napkin while the next round of food comes out. The table underneath is dry and unmarked when the covers are folded up.
