Orange is the default for autumn decorating and it fights with a lot of dining rooms. The pumpkins painted along this runner are blue and white as well, set among floral branches in a soft watercolor style, which sits better against gray walls or a dark wood table. It measures 72 by 13 inches down the center of the table.

Blue Pumpkins, Not Orange

Farmhouse autumn decor usually arrives in one palette, and anybody with a blue kitchen or navy chairs ends up working around it. The watercolor print here leans on blue and cream pumpkins with orange used as an accent, so the runner can go down without the rest of the room arguing with it. Painted flowers and small autumn details fill the space between the pumpkins.

Narrow By Design

The narrow width is deliberate. At 13 inches the runner holds a centerpiece and a pair of candlesticks down the middle while leaving the place settings on bare table either side, which is how a runner is supposed to work. Plates do not half sit on fabric and half on wood. On a six foot table the length reaches both ends with nothing hanging over.

Out of the Fold Flat

Polyester is the reason this does not need an iron. The fabric resists wrinkling, so the runner comes out of the packaging, gets shaken out and lies flat on the table while the rest of the dinner is still being cooked. Nobody has to find the ironing board on the morning of a holiday. The printed pattern holds its color through the weeks it stays out.

Buffet and Coffee Table

The dining table is only one place it fits. The same strip runs along a buffet behind the serving dishes, across a kitchen island, or on a coffee table under a bowl of gourds for the month of November. Laid under platters it also takes the scratches and the water rings that a hot dish or a sweating pitcher leaves on a finished surface.
