Seventy-three inches is the length of an average family dining table, so the runner reaches close to both ends without hanging off in a way that catches a sleeve. Fourteen inches across leaves enough bare wood on either side for plates and glasses. On a longer table it becomes a centerpiece band instead, with the settings sitting entirely outside it.
Spun Polyester Surface
The fabric is one hundred percent spun polyester with sturdy stitching around the edge, which is the part that usually gives out first on a seasonal textile. Under a hot dish it puts a layer between the ceramic and the table, and it takes the scratches from a serving spoon and the drips from a gravy boat rather than the wood underneath taking them.
Mantel Or Sideboard
A dining table is the obvious place, but the same strip fits a coffee table, a hallway console, a bedroom dresser or a fireplace mantel, where it sits under a row of candles or a vase of spring branches.
