Christmas break is long and the days before it are longer. This poster unrolls to 72 by 30 inches, which is wide enough that three or four children can work along the same side without knocking elbows. The scene is packed with snowmen, gnomes, gingerbread men, stockings and a tree, so nobody has to decide what to draw.
The printed scene runs through the parts of Christmas children already know: Santa, a cheerful snowman, gnomes, a decorated tree, a gingerbread man, wrapped gifts, stockings and snowflakes filling the gaps. Big shapes sit beside fine detail, so a toddler with a fat crayon and a nine year old with a fine marker both find somewhere to start on the same sheet.
Handing out individual coloring books splits a group of cousins into separate corners. One six foot sheet does the opposite: they end up leaning over the same scene, trading colors and arguing over who gets the tree. In a preschool classroom it covers a group table for an afternoon, which is one setup rather than twenty sheets to hand out.
Whatever is already in the craft box works on it. Crayons, markers, colored pencils and paints all take to the surface, which means a family does not have to buy a particular pen for the poster. Children filling in large areas tend to switch between a brush and a marker as they go, and the outlines stay visible underneath both.
The finished sheet is a decoration in its own right. Parents tape it to a hallway wall, teachers pin it along a corridor, and daycare rooms put it up where the parents collect at the end of the day. Hung at a party venue it becomes the backdrop nobody paid a decorator for, with every child in the room able to point at their part.
Four holographic covers that shift color as guests move around the room, each 54 by 108 inches, for a Galentines brunch or a disco night.
Two 54 by 108 inch holiday table covers that fit an eight-foot table and take the spills of a Christmas dinner in their stride.
