White Under Daylight
A pale cover does something specific in a room with windows: it bounces light back up, which is kinder to photographs taken across the table at midday. The gold pattern keeps the surface from looking like a bare sheet of plastic in those pictures. Flowers, glassware and pale paper goods all sit well against it without any of them competing for attention.
